Sometimes, you just have to have experience with something to really “get it”. Ever wonder why your friends or family don’t really understand or relate to some of the blog-centric things you tell them? Sometimes, they just don’t “get it”.
But that’s okay. There’s a huge amount of bloggers out there that know exactly what you’re talking about. Here are 12 things only bloggers understand.

12 Things Only Bloggers Understand
1. How much work blogging is!
Think about how many jobs you might have as a blogger. You’re a writer, an editor, a photographer, a photo editor. You’re also a designer, a researcher, and a social media manager. You may even do coding or website design. And if your blog is also your business you might also be keeping track of all of your finances and doing your taxes. That’s a lot of work!
2. That “Ah-ha” moment when you finally figure something that was challenging you out!
Nothing beats the feeling of finally getting your website to look the way you want it to. Or the feeling of finally finding a social media strategy that brings you traffic and growth. Or even finally obtaining the ability to juggle it all! “Getting it” just feels so good!
3. That feeling when a brand you’ve loved forever recognizes your work!
Maybe they send you a DM on Insta with tons of heart emojis. Maybe they ask if they can repost your photo, giving you lots of exposure! Or maybe they send you an email with a paid collaboration opportunity! Whatever it is, it always feels so good to get recognized by your faves for all of your hard work!
4. Having no free time
You have no free time because you spend all of your free time working on your blog! Before and after work, first thing in the morning, during your lunch break, and weekends are dedicated to completing blog-related tasks. It’s not the worst thing in the world, it feels good to have a hobby or a side hustle, but don’t forget to take some time off to relax, you deserve it!
5. Buying things “for the blog”
Raise your hand if you’ve ever blamed an impulsive purchase on the blog? We all totally have! It’s easy enough, we’re always shopping for props and products for flatlay shoots, outfits to show off to our followers, or the latest tech gear to take our content to the next level. No worries, it’s all an investment anyways!
6. Blogger drama
Whether you take part in it or just watch from the sidelines, there’s always a little blogger drama going down. And of course there always will be, not everyone will agree on everything, and sometimes people are really passionate about things. Advice: try not to get involved, it’s not worth it.
7. Spam central!
You’re told to have your blog/business email displayed everywhere so that a brand can easily find it if they want to contact you. What they don’t tell you though, is just how much spam you’ll end up getting. Emails about “growing your Instagram following by purchasing followers”, which you should never ever do. Messages from “brands” trying to get you to purchase their products as a “collaboration”, which you should never ever agree to, and of course, creepy messages. The spam can get annoying, but it’s all a part of the job.
8. Needing to have all the notebooks and supplies!
If you have a blog chances are you probably also have thirty notebooks dedicated to your blog, don’t try to lie and say you don’t. Besides, each notebook has a specific purpose, or maybe they don’t. But either way nothing is stopping you from buying another four “super cute” notebooks that you “totally need.” It’s okay, we won’t judge.
9. Waves of intense motivation and then…none at all
You’ll have those days where you can literally do it all. You find yourself completing every task on your to-do list and working hard on your blog to take it to the next level. But then, you’ll have days where just typing a word is a struggle. Like, what gives? Either way, we’ve all been there and we all know the feeling!
10. Finding your community!
The blogging world can seem like a lonely place when you first start out. But nothing feels better than finding your community. Whether it’s a single blogger friend who you talk to constantly, or it’s an entire group of bloggers supporting one another, it feels so good!

11. Seeing how far you’ve come
The road to successful blogger can be a long one. You’ll make mistakes, learn some lessons, and find tons of old posts to cringe at along the way! You’ll be surprised by how much you’ve learned, and will continue to learn, along the way. Your blogging journey won’t be exactly like every other bloggers’ but it’s yours, so own it and trust it.
12. How much you love blogging
Although it can be tough at times, there’s always so much work to do and things don’t always go your way, you wouldn’t give it up for anything. You enjoy blogging and every good thing that comes along with it. You’ve challenged yourself, improved your talents, learned some new skills, and made amazing friends along the way. You really wouldn’t want to have it any other way!
What are some other things only bloggers understand?

I totally identify with everything here. Aha moment after figuring out something – tick for one tech unsavvy blogger here. Buying something for the blog – tick. Not having free time – tick. Several notebooks – tick. Loving blogging despite everything – tick, tick, tick.
hahaha! yes!
Literally every single one LOL. Getting back into my block during lockdown and forgot just how much I love! ♥️

Although it comes with it’s fair share of challenges, blogging is such a rewarding experience!
There are so many things and drama only bloggers can understand and describe very well , there 12 things are also important …
Yes! I was just telling my husband abkut a goal I achieved recently and he looked at me with a blank stare. They don’t get it!
Haha! It’s so true, they just don’t get it sometimes!
The spam messages have been on a high as of late. I keep getting emails from fashion ‘brands’ that are ‘so excited to work together’. I love how they go on and on about how they love my blog and/or Instagram profile – when truthfully I have a pet blog and there’s maybe 2 pictures total on my IG that include me, it’s all pets haha
So annoying!! And they never stop!
This post talked to me! At the beginning I thought… oh just type, hit publish and voila!! It is more than that, you have to have passion and love for blogging in order to be able to learn to navigate the downs and celebrate the ups!
Yes! It’s so much work, but it’s worth it! (:
NUMBER1!!! People don’t realize what it takes to write one blog post. SO much work and steps. But its defiantly worth it!
Yes! So much goes into every single post!
#5 & 9 are the most relatable! I’ve been looking at full-length mirrors and keep telling myself it’s for the blog and Instagram! lol It feels silly but it’s our job!!

Omg yes! Everytime I want to buy something, I say it’s “for the blog”!
This is so true!! Nobody seems to understand why I never have time but having a blog is a whole seperate full time job.
Yes it is! It takes up so much time!
So true! I especially think the first one is the most popular. People underrate how much work is put into blogging, but also love and passion! x
Most people don’t understand how much work goes into it all, but it is all worth it! (:
1, 5 and 9 are just so so accurate!!
Right now I’m feeling so unmotivated and with lack of inspiration to write something…
Have a nice week!!
That’s the absolute worst! The motivation will come back though!
Aww, this was such a heartwarming post! Can’t wait to dive deeper into the world of blogging.
Thank you!! (:
#1 and #4 are definitely so relatable! Only bloggers especially with multiple years of experience of blogging understand how much hard work gets put into blogging. It’s not just creating an account, using multiple social media networks, all of cool filters, taking pictures, writing, and blips and boops. A lot of preparation (it seems like I am constantly doing this one for my blog LOL) research, exploration of technology, analysis, more writing and editing than you think, reading, organization, and buying things goes into it. I prep pretty much everything I am going to say in my vlogs and not all but lots of posts. I really love blogging with all my heart and there’s literally never a dull moment when it comes to doing it (it’s my escape) but it’s like a second job with multiple jobs all in one and a lot of hard work goes into it and I am so proud of how far I’ve come as an almost third year blogger?❤??✨
It is so much work, but it’s all worth it when you see the end result or how far you’ve come! Congratulations on 3 years!! (:
Yes, you are speaking the blogging language.
haha! (:
Definitely resonate with the points in this blog. Especially when you finally figure out something! Haha
It’s the BEST feeling!
Ah relate so much to this!
My friends and family didn’t understand how much work this was till i began counting each tiny activity to them and actually got my husband to help one day.
😛
Great post!
Right?! It’s crazy how much work it is! But it’s all worth it! (:
Yes, yes, yes! Love it all though.
(:
This was totally relatable! And I loved the last point. It can really be challenging but at the end of the day, I love blogging and that’s what matters 🙂
Exactly! (:
I think the most obvious is #1. Like this is just a hobby that takes a few minutes a day. Good luck with that. Good read.
Right?! Hours and hours of work!
Hahaha I can totally relate. Glad someone else understands.
It’s the blogging struggles! (:
Hey,
All of those statements were so relatable. The only one I was surprised by was the blogger drama. I had no idea, but it makes sense people can be petty at times.
It happens no matter what industry you’re in. Drama is everywhere, but what matters is how you react to it!
Oh my goodness, YES!
Great list and so relatable! Number 9 is a particular struggle for me.
That’s the worst, isn’t it?!
So true! Blogging journey is a whirlpool of super motivation and super low moments. Celebrating small wins and growing every day with new knowledge matters the most. Love the article. Thank you.
Love this! that’s exactly what blogging can be like!
Yes I can relate to all of those things ?
