New Years and fresh starts are both great times to set goals, but they’re certainly not the only time. That’s the beauty of life, you can start over and change things up whenever you want to.
It doesn’t matter what your reason for setting some new goals is, what does matter is sticking to those goals.
Sticking to, and actually accomplishing goals is a challenge to some, and for good reason. Accomplishing goals isn’t easy! It takes work, motivation, consistency, and the right mindset. But that’s all worth it when you finally get the chance to celebrate all you’ve done and accomplished!
If you’re the type of person who still can’t quite figure out how to stick to your goals, here are 6 tips to help you stick to your goals and accomplish anything!

How to stick to your goals and accomplish anything
Keep your number of goals small
A truly vital tip to help you stick to your goals, keeping the number of goals you set for yourself small.
Accomplishing goals isn’t easy, and depending on what you’re trying to get done exactly, it could take a lot of extra work, commitment, time, and a whole lifestyle change to do. And when you try to accomplish too many goals at a time, you can become overwhelmed and end up giving up on them entirely.
That doesn’t mean it’s impossible to accomplish anything. What it means is in order to do it all, you have to start small.
Try focusing on 1-3 goals at a time, especially if they’re bigger goals. Think about it, isn’t it so much easier to focus on a few things at a time instead of 30? Once you’ve gotten those first couple of goals done, focus on 1-3 more, and so on.
Write them down
If you really want to stick to your goals, you’re going to have to write them down. Writing your goals down helps put things into perspective, helps you stay organized, and helps you remember what you want to accomplish.
You can create a beautiful list of all the goals you wish to accomplish in a planner, or you can quickly jot them down on a notepad. You can even keep them as notes in your phone so they’re easily accessible, do whatever works for you!
Just make sure you’re writing your goals down somewhere, and don’t forget to keep them someplace you’re likely to see them.
Break them down
Literally break your goals down as small as you possibly can.
A big goal, like a major lifestyle change, (being healthier, quitting smoking, starting a business, etc.) sounds scary and well, big. And with good reason too. Things like this don’t happen overnight, and require daily work and tasks to get you to the point of goal: accomplished.
Take that super big, and seemingly scary, goal and break it down into all the smaller tasks you’ll need to do in order to accomplish it.
So for example, let’s say your goal is to start your own clothing company. Something as big as starting your own business isn’t a one-off type of thing, you’ll have to complete many smaller tasks in the process like desiging your merchandise, deciding on prices, choosing a location or designing a website, and so on.
Write out all the things you need to do in order to get your goals accomplished. When you do this you’ll know exactly what you need to do, there won’t be any surprises or wasting time figuring out the next step. You’ll be prepared and ready to take on the next task!
Doing this will really help you stick to your goals and get things done, trust us!
The Blogging Babes Blogging Workbook + Planner and the Ultimate Life Planner both have goal setting sheets that make planning and accomplishing goals super easy!
Check in on them
Don’t just write out a list of things you want to accomplish and think the work is done and things will just start happening. You have to actually put in the work.
Sometimes goals take time, or they’re slow building. Check in on those goals frequently. Check to see how much closer you’re getting every month and write out ways to improve for the upcoming one. Keep updates on where you’re at, and what still needs to get done.
Holding yourself accountable and keeping track of your goals can really help you stick to them!
Do something every day that gets you closer to those goals
Baby steps, baby steps, baby steps!
Not everything is going to happen quickly, sometimes things just take time, and a little extra work, to get done. But if you do at least one thing every single day that brings you closer to your goals, your chances of accomplishing them become that much higher!
If your goal is to start and open your own business by the end of the year, make sure you’re doing something that will get you there every day.
It doesn’t matter whether the daily tasks you set for yourself are big or small. As long as you’re getting stuff done, you’re in good shape! (And that much closer to crushing those goals!)
Be kind to yourself and celebrate every win, big and small
Doing big things, making lifestyle changes, and challenging yourself isn’t going to be a walk in the park. It’s going to get hard, you might get pushed to your limits, you may even become discouraged. This is why it’s extremely important to remember to be kind to yourself.
Give yourself a break when you need to, take it easy every once in a while, take your rest as seriously as you do your hustle. Your goals don’t work unless you do, but you can’t do a single thing when you’re in desperate need of a break.
And when you do hit a milestone or crush a goal, celebrate! Like, really who doesn’t love a good celebration? And what better reason to celebrate than when it’s all about celebrating your wins?!
Whenever you complete a task that gets you one step closer to smashing your goals, or you accomplish that really big one you thought was going to be impossible, take a second to congratulate yourself.
Celebrating your wins can help keep you motivated and ready to do even bigger things! Plus, you obviously deserve it!
Reward yourself with a special treat, a week off, or even just a pat on the back. You did it! Now go out there and continue killing it!

I definitely agree! I think the best way to stick to your goals, is to check in on them. I check in on mine multiple times throughout the year! I think that’s why I don’t think I have new year’s “resolutions”, it’s just me checking in with my goals, seeing how i’m doing and whether I still want to achieve those things! Great post xxx
